Medicine starts with understanding. That’s why doctors write notes – to capture a complete picture of who their patient is, and what will help them.
As clinicians, Peter Johnson and Chris Tackaberry knew the deep understanding they got from analysing these unstructured notes led to more accurate treatment decisions, optimal outcomes, and easier reimbursement.
What frustrated them was the impossibility of efficiently extending this deep analysis to every patient in a population – searches were instead limited to the structured data of test results and financial information.
In 2009 they founded Clinithink, to use emerging artificial intelligence to extract the rich, unstructured data that holds the key to understanding every patient.
